Sanctions against Russia. Vain hopes

“Germany's economy needs lifting the sanctions against Russia”, “In Germany, new sanctions against the Russian Federation were criticized as those violating international law”, “Germany does not want an ice age in relations with Russia”, “Ukraine has nothing to do with the European Union” and finally “We should get along with Russia”.

These and similar statements citing Federal Chancellor of Germany A. Merkel, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, President of the European Commission J. Juncker and, of course, President of the United States D. Trump, again are becoming the main topic of publications of Russian media regarding Ukraine and their followers in the Ukrainian information space.

What is it? Has Europe changed its attitude to Ukraine? Nothing of the kind! Then what is the reason for such media activity, both in the West and in the East? It is quite simple. Next week the European Union is going to consider the extension of sanctions against Russia for the annexation of the Crimea for another six months. Despite all Russia's attempts to escape punishment, the sanctions will be extended. Well, at least they will amuse themselves with hopes, while Russian money, through their special services', will support the budgets of the Western media and Russian “propagandists-labourers”.

By the way, indeed, A. Merkel, J. Junker and D. Trump support the possibility of lifting the sanctions against Russia, but only if it fulfills the Minsk agreements and the Crimea returns to Ukraine. This is the main idea of the quotations mentioned above, which are shamelessly distorted by Russian media within the framework of dirty information companies and technologies.
