There Is No Uncontrolled Space in Geopolitics

President of the “Borysfen Intel” Centre Victor Hvozd at the “Radio NV” Studio

Victor Hvozd, President of the “Borysfen Intel” Center for Geopolitical Studies, at the end of the week was invited to the studio of “Radio NV”, where he answered questions about current events, in particular, about the role of intelligence agencies in ensuring security of the state. The host of the program especially wanted to hear V. Hvozd's opinion on the personnel changes in the leadership of Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence in such a difficult time for our people and whether he considers it necessary to make public the state's problems, when it is defending its independence, how efficient our intelligence agencies' operations are, etc.

Providing examples of the activities of Ukrainian intelligence agencies, V. Hvozd paid tribute to the diligent fulfilling the tasks by intelligence professionals, explaining within the limits of the allowed how much effort their work takes, and to what special attention should be paid in the training of personnel for this kind of work. He reminded the listeners about the special operation to free the vessel “Faina”, seized by so-called pirates near the coasts of Africa, which was transporting military equipment and weapons; and about the operative “game” with the Russian so-called opponents who, despite the official agreements, were trying to blackmail and make out intelligence officers co-operate; and about his forecasts for the future of the missile treaty, the compliance with which today is in question in the United States and Russia.

V. Hvozd also spoke about the modern Russian-Ukrainian war. Answering the host's question about the possibility of Russia's offensive in the East of Ukraine, V. Hvozd cited the content of the modern Russian military doctrine, which states that a large-scale war is possible only between modern superpowers. And although there are different views on the further development of hostilities, the situation today does not contribute to starting these actions in the context like five years ago when Russian troops were ready to do so. Yet, according to V. Hvozd, Russia can provoke in Ukraine a chaos, protest actions of the dissatisfied with the results of the upcoming elections, which could lead to blood shedding, and “to protect the civilian population” the Russians can resort to a so-called humanitarian operation.

It is necessary to carefully prevent such events, to take into consideration the geopolitical situation, which is characterized by aggravation of contradictions.

“Today, in fact, since 2010, we have been witnessing the functioning of a multi-polar system of international relations,” said V. Hvozd, “but Ukraine cannot be considered a subject of this system… In our Ukrainian space, there are appropriate resources, etc., but we failed to timely take them under control, including political one. Because of constant squabbles, political problems, “closed-door deals”… The second law of geopolitics states: if a country does not control its space, it will be controlled by someone else. There is no uncontrolled space in geopolitics”.
