Reasons and Consequences for Europe and Ukraine
Serhiy Polyovyk
The spread of corruption in Romania and its backing by the Parliament of the country are causing the increasing outrage to the population, which is becoming massive. The reason for this is the negative impact of corruption on the development of the Romanian economy, which leads to the complication of socio-economic problems in the country and hinders its integration into the EU. In particular, due to the unresolved problem of corruption in the country, Romania still remains outside the Schengen zone and the Euro zone.
Despite the internal nature of the events in Romania that are localized around corruption issues, they have more profound reasons and can have an impact not only on the country's foreign policy, but also on the situation in South-Eastern Europe and the Black Sea region as well as on the situation in NATO and the EU.
