August 31, 2017, at the invitation of the leadership of the Zhytomyr Military Institute named after Serhiy Korolyov, Vice President of the Independent Analytical Center for Geopolitical Studies “Borysfen Intel”, Candidate of Military Sciences, Associate Professor, Lieutenant-General of the reserve Yuriy Radkovets, within the framework of educational and methodological training dedicated to the new 2017/2018 academic year, conducted a lecture for teachers and permanent staff of the military institute on the topic: “Peculiarities of the Current Development of the Situation around Ukraine in the Context of Its National Interests and Security”.

Besides, conflicts in the countries of the Middle East and North Africa, the growing tension and the threat of armed confrontation in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as the escalation of international contradictions in the Arctic, have a negative impact on Ukraine's interests. Under such circumstances, the main allies of Ukraine are the United States, NATO and the EU, who in fact have taken on the responsibility for the security of our State. In this regard, Western countries and international organizations continue to pursue a policy of strategic deterrence of Russia, and also are intensifying the support for the processes of Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration. At the global level, an additional factor of influence on Ukraine's interests is the formation of a new geopolitical system of the world order with two main centers of power, namely, the USA and China. Within the framework of this process, Ukraine's role and importance are turning from the center of contradictions between the West and Russia into one of the elements of the transport and economic corridor between the West and China... |
...The situation around Ukraine remains complicated and tense because of the continuation of Russia's armed aggression against our State. At this, the possibility of expanding the scale of Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, including a full-scale offensive operation within the framework of the strategic command post exercise “West-2017”, should not be ruled out.
Thus, the current state and prospects for the development of the military-political situation around Ukraine make the profession of the defender of the Fatherland the most in demand and need highly professional training of military specialists.
After the lecture, Yuriy Radkovets answered questions about the peculiarities of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict in the Donbas and the current military-political situation around Ukraine.
The leadership of the Zhytomyr Serhiy Korolyov Military Institute expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation with the experts of “Borysfen Intel” within the educational process at the Institute.
